Our Legacy

Clan History

From DeathStalkers to Tactical Response Division and ultimately Black Squad, this is the story of a gaming community that has continued to evolve for more than two decades.

Where It Started

More Than A Clan Name

Black Squad did not begin as Black Squad. The community has changed names, games, members and direction several times since its earliest days around 2005.

Each era left something behind. The early DeathStalkers clan established the first community. Tactical Response Division developed a stronger structure and competitive identity. Black Squad became the next evolution, carrying those experiences forward while developing an identity of its own.

Games have come and gone, activity has risen and fallen, and real life has changed the amount of time members could contribute. The common thread has always been the people who continued to return, rebuild and keep the community alive.

The Journey

From DeathStalkers To Black Squad

01
Around 2005

-DS- DeathStalkers

The earliest known roots of the community began with the DeathStalkers. Like many gaming clans of the era, the group formed around people meeting online, playing together regularly and gradually building friendships beyond individual matches.

This was the foundation from which the later clan structures developed. Although only a small number of people remain from those earliest days, the community created during this period ultimately led to everything that followed.

02
The TRD Era

-TRD- Tactical Response Division

DeathStalkers eventually evolved into Tactical Response Division, better known as TRD. This era developed much of the military-inspired identity, rank structure and organised approach that would later influence Black Squad.

TRD was more than a name change. The clan became increasingly structured, with organised membership, competitive gaming and dedicated WAR activity becoming an important part of the community.

The systems surrounding ranks, squads, applications, promotions and member responsibilities all have their roots in this period of the clan's history.

03
A New Identity

-BlkSqd- The Black Squad

TRD was eventually dissolved into The Black Squad. The new identity retained the community and competitive foundations that had already been established while allowing the clan to move forward under a broader identity.

Black Squad continued to support different types of members: competitive players, casual gamers, server administrators, technically minded contributors and people who remained primarily because of the friendships they had formed within the group.

04
October 2017

A Four-Year Hiatus

In October 2017, personal circumstances resulted in Black Squad entering a four-year hiatus. The community was no longer operating in the same active form, but its history and relationships did not simply disappear.

It was another example of something the clan had experienced throughout its life: real-world responsibilities can change how much time people have for gaming, but they do not necessarily erase the community that has already been built.

05
2021

-BlkSqd- Black Squad Return

Black Squad returned in 2021 with the intention of rebuilding the Clan & Community. Rather than simply recreating everything exactly as it had been, the return provided an opportunity to learn from earlier experiences and decide what was worth carrying forward.

The goal remained familiar: provide a place where people could play games, participate in the community and maintain the friendships that had always been more important than any individual game.

06
Today

-BlkSqd- Black Squad Clan & Community

Black Squad continues to evolve while preserving the history, friendships and community that shaped the clan over more than two decades.

Forums, members, ranks, achievements, squads, events, game communities and servers remain part of that identity as Black Squad moves into its next chapter.

Through Every Era

What Stayed The Same

01

The People

Members changed over time, but friendships and the social side of the clan remained the reason people kept returning.

02

Competition

Competitive gaming, organised teams and WAR activity have remained part of the clan's identity across multiple generations.

03

Structure

Ranks, progression, squads and member responsibilities became part of the community and continue to influence the rebuilt platform.

04

Community

Games provided the meeting place, but the community itself became something larger than whichever title happened to be popular at the time.

The Next Chapter

Preserving The Past. Building The Future.

The purpose of rebuilding Black Squad is not to live in the past. It is to preserve the parts of that history worth keeping while giving the community a modern platform capable of supporting whatever comes next.
